If I ever made a movie…

If I ever made a movie, it would be like Tamanna.

A hijra (eunuch) finds a baby girl in a garbage bin and brings her up as his own. Paresh Rawal as a hijra is an endearingly helpless parent. The discarded infant (Pooja Bhatt) is a rich industrialist’s third unwanted daughter. The mother was told that the babies were still born.

*So there’s a poor hijra who makes a courageous, huggable parent.

*And there’s a hitman who won’t take supari assignments while his daughter has fever.

*And then there is a violent, wealthy, wife beating man who gets his three daughters killed.

I just finished watching the entire movie on 13Β  You Tube videos [here] πŸ™„

The lyrics in this trailer are beautiful… “Ghar se masjid hai bahut door, chalo yoon karlen, kisi rote hue bachche ko hansaya jaye…” (Masjid is very far from home, so let’s do this; Let’s bring a smile on the face of a crying baby…)

If you were to make a movieΒ  …just one in an entire lifetime, what would it be like?

  1. I would probably make a comedy movie. Something that can bring a smile to your lips no matter how many times you see it and no matter what your age or what company you are in (General viewing).

Probably something like “Chameli ki Shaadi” or “Jaane bhi do Yaron”.

As much I love comedy, I strongly dislike crap comments on sexuality or something random spoken just to add pun and not real fun.

    Great post IHM.

    Cheers!!

  2. There’s no way to justify the shame so I’ll say it outright – I’ll make a freaking good Batman movie where they do him right instead of messing up his voice and suit πŸ˜€ …Not too meaningful in a holistic sense I know, but hey, someone has to do it!

Gotta love youtube. Where would we be without it?

It would have definitely have to have a Treasure hunt… something like Indy Jones or Romancing the Stone or Congo or National Treasure… something of that type …

A treasure hunt in somewhere in Africa or Amazon… !!!!

Movies made in Africa and involving treasure hunts with a trail through rain forests, deserts, ravines, tunnels, pyramids, mountains which are laden with lots of animals and various dangers… aaah !! these have always been my most most most favourite… it would have to be that !!!!!!

Actually Africa is the only place I would like to visit more than India !!

Sorry if I disappoint you… but no social cause in my movie !!!

What to say only Mahesh Bhatt is equal to Mahesh Bhatt. He is the only guy capable and dare to touch unconventional themes in bollywood. One of my favourite director.I didn’t like Tamanna much(yeahh it is a very good movie.I have seen it when i was very young.May be thatz y i didn’t like it at that time).

@ make a movie —-hmmm i prefer old feel good mallu movies like 1.Kilukam 2. Mithunam 3. Nadodikatu (my fav movie) or may be HumTum πŸ˜€
P.S I don’t think i’m that strong to handle heavy dose topics

Me – Anish humour and a lighthearted way of conveying a message is even better πŸ™‚ That way I LOVE Mirch Masala!!

Me – Pins N Ashes boys who grow up with MCP fathers generally grow up beliveing women can only be respected if they prove to be humble, obedient, saintly, sacrificing, godesses (as is faultless), eager to please and serve etc. They even apply this to their own mothers, shocking as it sounds. The dil must have been so horrified to see that set !

reading your post I think Tamanna sounds like a decent watch.so let me first go and watch it..The film maker in me will just have to wait for a while πŸ˜‰

More than Bollywood, you ought to see Tamil and Malayalam movies for some quality messages conveyed in an effective way… But in Bollywood, my favourite movie is – Chak De India – One of the best movies made in bolly with a message which was effectively and nicely said. I like Taxi 9211 also, for the message it conveys. My most favourite hollywood movie is : Pursuit of Happiness. I am not an emotional person… but I cried after watching this movie – excellently made.

It’s a nice movie – heartbreaking though! Tough one there which movie would I make?Too many to list down:

    Hindi:
Satirical : Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron – It’s an amazingly intelligent movie – my all time favourite

Comedy: Andaz Apna Apna & Chupke Chupke

Drama: Iqbal, Lagaan, Dil Chahta Hain

Love story: Dilwale Dulhani Le Jayenge

I’ve watched the above movies for n number of times and can watch them again and again – everything about them was perfect and they re-defined bollywood

    English:
Kids: All the potter movies – favourite though is Pri,soner of Azkabaan

Drama: A Few Good Men ( I almost know the dialogues by heart)

    Comedy : Analyse That

Superhero – Spiderman, The Dark Knight, Batman forever

Phew – I would need a lot of money on me wouldn’t I:-)))) And there are still many more I’ve not mentioned – I think this would make up for a good blogpost!

Me – with these movies the money you spend will be an investment – you will get it back doubled πŸ™‚

IHM have you seen Gulzar’s Ijaazat? I would love to remake that movie and keep the original lyrics of this song

I am sure you must have watched Sagar Sarhadi’s Bazaar and Shyam Benegal’s Ankur?

For those funny bones I would love to make something like Chup ke Chup ke or Angoor… πŸ™‚

  32. this has been one of my fave movies since the time I was a teenager..

paresh rawal was awesome and so convincing.

and the song definitely is the best.

    i’ll go watch it again.

on a different note: i’ve loved shyam benegal’s “mammo” too for the same genuineness in storytelling and for striking a chord so well that we start really liking the people in it.. like real people.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mammo

if I were to make a movie.. I’d make a movie on a woman’s life story.. someone who faced the world and made it big on her own terms, in her own ways, rather than through the superhuman Don-woman ways one assume stronger women to be. I believe women inherently have superior skills in dealing with life, though we are conditioned to be less womanly and more manly if we are to accomplish things on our own in a (so-called) man’s world. I’d like to make a movie on some woman who cracked that code.

Me – Usha this sounds amazing!! I even feel if we just looked at our strengths without giving our strengths or weaknesses a gender, we’d just be strong people, women and men.

Me – Thank You!!! And delighted to meet you locutus83 !! πŸ™‚

I had watched Tamanna many years back, and this film brought tea

As for my favourite movies – I have many favourites – but if I would have to make a movie, the top one on my list would be “Amelie”. A scene from the movie which brought tears to my eyes, and still does whenever I come across it:

It is my all time favourite which shows human goodness and art at its very best. It’s a must watch movie, with the feel good power of 10000 dark chocolates which will make you fall in love with the idea of love itself, and will make you enjoy the little things in life and will elevate your compassion levels 10 times above Mother Teresa’s.

    Me –

Besides that, there are types of scene’s (from top grade movies) which I would have loved to have made, and maybe the movies themselves:
The most ultimate real “love” scene ever from an excellent movie (Go ahead, check it out!!)

Me – That’s a lovely link – there’s a whole collection of scenes there! Thank You!

And a scene which defines friendship and brings goosebumps, from my all time favourite Trilogy:

Now, after having a second look at your post, I think I was a bit hasty in trying to show off my favourite scenes πŸ™‚ If I personally were to make a movie, it would be not one but a trilogy at least!! It would have excellent background music and spectacular cinematography and special effects, and would have to be a core science fiction and fantasy mixed movie with scenes of artistic imagination, soft love, heroism, horror, terror, friendship, war, honour, fun and frolic and compassion rolled together. Basically a mix of my favourites –
Star Trek + Star Wars + Lord of The Rings + Amelie + Gladiator + Last Samurai
