Respond to comments or Bloghop…?
Nita commented on Smitha’s blog about how she chose to read blogs over responding to every comment on her posts, because there just isn’t time to do everything one wants to do.
I have wondered about this too. I remembered Nita’s poll last year – and decided to try the same to find some answers.
Your vote remains anonymous as WordPress does not give out the IP addresses of those who vote.
What do you like to read on this blog?
Two commenters pointed out last week that I was updating too often. So how much is enough, and when does it become too much? Please choose one option.
I like reading blogs – it’s like hearing the opinions of many people, but I miss some interesting blog updates while hopping from Google Reader to Readomattic to the Blogroll on my Blogger blog. I wonder how others keep track of all the blogs they like to read.
And how do you read this blog?
Why do you read this blog?
Thank You!

IHM, I wish you had a category for ‘Why do you read this blog’ – This is one of the most interesting blog in the blogworld
Me – Be critical too!! Help me improve
I agree with Smitha…
I agree too
I second smitha
I voted IHM but the last one should have had one more option. Because you like me … and I would have selected that
And if I hadnt responded to my comments I wouldnt have found a wonderful friend in Crafty! So i think I’ll keep doing it. And IHM pls post as often as you wish,I come here everyday. Now u dont want to disappoint me do you?
Me – Aww Homecooked! You can also tell me what you don’t like
Voted Ma’am.
I know that most people blog for themselves and they have the right to post whatever and whenever they want. Still I am sure if comment section is open then they expect comments. If a blogger expect comments then it would be nice to be a little considerate towards readers.
Two points:
1. I wish that people reduce the pace for us readers.
Twice a week would be fine. This is strictly my view. That way readers get to read more bloggers and don’t miss some important posts due to lack of time. Enough time for many regulars to participate in discussion esp. on blogs like this where we discuss many important issues like Gender inequality, politics etc.
2. Be crisp and to the point. Long posts are good if it has content. Endless ramblings is a waste of time for the writer and reader. Once a while is good when blogger has to vent or pour her/his thoughts but just writing to make a post long is a put off.
My views on comment reply:
For me it is very important that a blogger acknowledge comments. I don’t blog often so I take time to reply to comments. For me comment interaction is important as I learn a lot from it.
Me – Solilo I appreciate your frankness
I agree about keeping the posts crisp and to the point.
I wrote on Masood’s blog, “I cut almost all my posts to around half the original size, because I feel very long posts may not be read completely (Amit Varma of ‘India Uncut’ advises this too)… would you call that writing for others? Or writing to be read?”
I love replying to comment, in fact can’t quite resist it… just wish for some more hours every day
IHM, my comment was in general not for you.
You are always crisp and to the point and like many others I come here every day.
Me – I go out of my way to ‘ruthlessly’ weed out every word that is not needed.
I concur with Amit Varma. It is ‘writing to be read’. Even those who claim that they write for themselves (including me) want others to read it so it is always ‘writing to be read’ if comment section is open.
So write crisp and to the point and that is one thing I love about your blog.
Don’t be compelled to blog hop. You can do it when time permits.
Me- He he the phrase ‘writing to be read’ is mine, delighted that you liked it
I feel (1.) I am writing for myself when I blog about issues I feel strongly about, and (2.) I must keep unnecessary words out because I also write to be read
Participated, Madam!
I enjoy reading your blog… And though I clicked on ‘You agree with my views (generally)’, the truth is that even at times when I don’t really nod in agreement at your words, I still enjoy reading your point of view…
Love,
Puja
Me – Thank You Puja
Just wondering whether you’re planning to take any decision based on data you’ve collected via the poll, or just for curiosity…
Me – Plan to take decision Bhagwad. I feel I am disorganised, miss updates of blogs I love to read, not able to respond to comments I’d love to reply to, how does one organise one’s time?
That is the price you pay for being so famous, IHM.
i voted
…
i come here at least once a day to see if there are updates…this is the case with almost all blogs i read/follow…i read them because i like the way they write, i share their views…
The last one’s options do not do justice to the whole gamut of reasons people might have. You should have other!
I like it when blogs I follow are updated often. So I don’t think you have been posting too much! In fact, can’t get enough of your blog. I may not always leave a comment but you can be sure I have read your post! And in terms of why I read your blog…because you talk about issues I’m passionate about as well. And you do it in a much better way than me! So keep up the good work and continue blogging…more often if possible!
Voted ! voted !
Me – Nothing to say?
You know I used to have a readomattic active on WP,plus a google reader, plus a blogroll on my blogspot page.It used to be a mad roller coaster ride for me while blog-hopping.I used to go crazy! Then I shifted everything into one place and updated my google reader.Even now I do go berserk everytime my reader touches a 100 mark of unread posts, but then I can be at least sure that whatever updations happen, they happen at one place.
As for replying to comments,I do believe in responding to my comments.I may not respond immediately but I do whenever I get time, even if that response is a smiley. Its like when someone visits your home,he/she would expect you to acknowledge with so much as a smile. Its a similar case with your blog too, isnt it?
When I receive a comment right after I’ve published something I try and revert instantly because I’m online then.At other times what I normally do is blog-hop in the morning and respond to comments,if any in the evenings. That proves quite useful!
IHM,the first question should have had an added choice as ‘all of the above’.Seriously! ‘Cos I love reading your takes on all the issues you’ve specified. It was so tough to choose one!
Have voted anyhow
Yes, I agree with homecooked, and although I have been visiting your blog for more than a year now, I don’t actually “know” you, and sometimes your political posts are just beyond me, but still I read you because I somehow LIKE you very much! Strange but true!!!!
Not fair…the options you have given doesn’t match my answers
1. What do you like to read abt? Anything and everything you write…am being honest. I just love this blog even when you write about Sher Khan who I am terrified off
2. How often should this blog be updated? I would prefer you update it throughout the weekdays 9 to 5 in the mornings on Eastern Standard Time
3. How do you read my blog? Well even though I have it bookmarked and on my google reader I am obsessed with refreshing your blog as often as I can (the number is a secret due to security reasons)
4. Why do you read this blog? Are you kidding us? I can write a whole post about why I like you and your blog
hmmm what I don’t like about this blog? *sakshi scratches her head* will come back again to answer that one..
I wished we could select multiple options for the topics of posts we would like to read here.
So I agree with Sakshi on pt. 1 . So many ppl come here and love to read you means you should continue writing about everything that you like to. One will skip the posts not of their interest.. I am sure writing only on one subject would make it boring and limiting for you as well.
Secondly, as you said, you feel the need for more hours, so much against many wishes, you can reduce the frequency of updating your blog. Keep writing the posts as and when they come to your mind but publish them when you are done with one round of reading/commenting/replying to comments etc.
When I started blogging, yours was one of the first few blogs I read regularly. I remember clicking on ur link at masood’s blog last year and then subscribed to get it in my office inbox. Most of the posts that time were related to social causes (ur maids etc) but I love the pets/family/kids/humour related posts as much.
This poll will give you an idea but I would personally say don’t let what others say bind you beyond a point.
Do I get something for taking the survey ;P
Me – err… how about a grateful THANK YOU!
On the topic that you started this post, I would rather prefer replying to comment even it is silly over blog hopping. I know may be reading a thought provoking post may be better idea than replying to some silly irrational comment, but I believe once someone has read my post and commented, it becomes my responsibility to reply. That’s my take…
And i was quite surprised with thw result of “How often this blog shd be updated?” Majority says 5 times or more i.e. almost one post each day!! I personally don’t like to come to the same person’s blog very frequently, somehow it kind of bores me dont know though why
Me – Mustaf every comment is valuable to a blogger, no comment is silly, even if we do not agree – it’s still an opinion, and it shows somebody read the post and took the trouble to give their opinion. The problem is if I have to choose between reading your post and giving my opinion on your blog or just acknowledge your comment here, what would you prefer? I like to do both.
Also like Nita pointed out, then there is lesser time to write another post. I want to do all! I hope to come to some conclusion with the help of the poll and the comments, I appreciate your frankness.
Hitchwriter thinks you post too often?
Anyway, I read posts which are interesting…As to how many posts a blogger should write, it’s up to the blogger…If they are interesting, people will read them…I read all your posts without fail because I find them interesting…
But as Solilo said, post should be short and crisp to keep the reader’s interest going…
I read all the comments on my posts because I don’t get many! Comments are important to me…
Me – Sraboney I read comments, sometimes more than once, but there are times when I am reading another post, and see a comment here, and I am torn between writing a comment there, and responding to the comment here- I end up doing both, but then find some posts I had been meaning to read – and some very interesting posts – on issues I feel strongly about – have been missed!
I agree with Bones too here. You are one blogger whose posts I never miss because you are always to the point. So it is easy to read and comment.
done
I want to add something to your first few lines. Answering every comment also takes time away from writing posts and that is why now I have reduced writing but still find myself short of time! That is because I visit a lot of blogs nowadays.
Also you will find that your regular readers want more posts, that is what I found. I too found that readers wanted me to post more but actually it was not possible. So finally one has to arrive at some medium, and hopefully it’s a happy medium for both bloggers and readers!
My blog reading right now is in a bit of chaos! So I cannot advise you there.
But this poll is a great idea and it will clarify a lot of issues. What I got from my poll was that readers said, post little if you want to, but keep up the quality. Thats the main thing.
i read your blog because i agree with most of what you write, I am impressed by what you write( i wish i could write and express like this).i really wonder from where do you get the ideas to write such relevant topics
i have some suggestions…may be:
1st question could have one more option like: ‘All of the above’
I have voted…but really wanted to click on all the options in first question
Nu I wanted to get an idea what kind of posts are preferred…. just to get an idea
IHM,
Everything in life cannot be slotted into a “system”. And blogging is like going to a virtual college and making lots of friends, some acquaintances, and some folks you keep away from. Its fun when you can virtually tap someone on the shoulder , say something and crackup, sometimes, just smile meaningfully, and sometimes nod affirmatively, just to be polite. Thats what makes it fun.
Your blog is YOU. Please dont go the “Poll” way. Blog as much as you like . Dont listen to guys who blog between their 87th and 89th panipuri.
. Its not fun if everyone constantly approves whatever you write . Skirmishes enliven the blogworld.
And its OK if you skip comments or bloghop. The wonderful thing is that 2 weeks later you can always come back and enjoy a different perspective.
I think your blog is wonderful, as it is. Forget the PollDaddy.
Me – I agree about skirmishes being a part of blog world – I
welcomedon’t mind disagreements either but I wish I had some more time to do everything I love to doI put my comment here coz Suranga has put it exactly the way I wd have. Update as and when u want to….its ur blog. And its OK if you skip comments or bloghop…..I personally reply to every comment coz I believe it’s a sort of an acknowledgment for taking the time out. But there are times I’m not able to and thts ok too[atleast I thk it is].
U write very well….abt the relevant topics on our times.
U pen it sensitively!!! And at the same time hit it hard into guts…sometimes there is no other way, I so understand that. But sometimes I find it hard to follow when u jump into a topic without any introduction esp when u are discussing other blogger posts.
I’ve been very honest here IHM. I hope u wont hold it against me
.
Cutting it short I just want to say…..
“Keep ‘em coming IHM!!!!!!!
Me – Nancy, do point it out when this happens. I generally add links…
I appreciate your honesty!
I am generally trying to keep the word count to minimum, and maybe without intending to – skip on the introduction. I am going to keep this in mind now on. Thanks
Ah!!! an ever going on dilemma. I feel bad when am not replying to comments on my blog & I feel equally guilty if am unable to comment on my fav blogs. All I wish was I had more time!!!
Many a times are there are so many posts that I read but don’t comment because I feel inadequate to say anything…and sometimes I don’t have time also but I feel that replying in ur own blog is very imp…
Me –
So I am not alone!
Same here Smita
IHM touchy issue…I love to read blogs, but often don’t comment becuase I really can’ think of anything to say or just don’t have the time to comment. I read all your posts, but don’t comment on all.I comment on the ones where I feel the need to voice my opinion as well or where a pertinent question has been raised. I try and reply to each comment on my blog as far as possible, even if its late. I generally do my blog-reading first thing in the morning or anytime when I can steal a few minutes during work.
As for how often you post or what topics to write on, this is your blog. If people think your posing too frequently, yet they come and read everyone of them then why are the comlaining, and if they can’t keep up, well then don’.Its not like the law of the land to read everything.Read at your own pace and comment at your own oace as well.I don; get the concept of commenting only becuase one has to.
Me – I don’t mind their pointing it out at all! They are friends and they don’t want to miss a post which happens if there are frequent updates
They can always scroll down, read the older posts and comment na then
I can’t vote for any one of those categories because it’s not one but all of those things that makes me read this blog.
Hey D, I wanted to know which subject was liked more!
I have voted, IHM.
But I find these polls are so stiffling. There are some questions I wouldn’t be able to answer by checking just one dot, or the answer isn’t relevant enough for instance, what I would like to read (everything, I would say). I have u blogrolled, subscribed and I visit ur blog (made sure, I don’t miss ur posts at any cost) … I may not comment on very post, but I read everything u write and I love the interactions in the comment area and I look forward to ur posts.
Strictly my opinion, whenever u have something post it (does not matter which time a week it is)…. because sometimes the relevance may not last for long (the earthquake in Delhi post like) …
Post away I say, when that itch N urge drives u mad and is rested only when u hit the submit button.
Good Day IHM
Ashes
My pet issue -the no-time arguement, I just hate…
Yes, ppl have been talking abt not having enough time to comment!! I don’t agree… maybe yes, one does not have something adequate to say or add to/ or it could be just a repetition— on a particular subject/post, but please don’t blame it on no-time
Because, if we want to do something, we do it, irrespective of having a packed schedule for 24 hrs…. And I think the best in us, comes out when we are pressed for time.
In my opinion, No-time could be translated to lack of patience — mainly due to server n loading problems, or keyboard/lap/comp malfunction or some technical glitch or just that we choose not to type something down as comments.
Ashes
IHM,
You should have another option in “Why do you read this blog?” – Because it is very well written.
The ‘What do you like to read about’ poll should not have a radio button. It should have a checkbox. Sorry, too technical kya? What I meant is that I want to be able choose more than just one option there.
and since you want readers to be critical, here is one thing that I find a bit troublesome while reading your posts. the hyperlinks. Esp when you write on gender issues, you link back to older posts na, there I click on those links and end up reading older and older and older posts, their comments and your replies to comments. In the process the current post is forgotten.
Wait this is my problem, not yours
So no criticism for you IHM, I have to handle my tabs better.
Voted! but having to choose one among all the options was a bit difficult
@reply to ur comment on my blog.. I am generally logged on to WordPress and hence u cannot click and follow to my blog .. Will try and avoid it from now
I dont leave comments at many places..i know its kind of rude leaving without a comment but in most cases, i have nothing to add except for agreeing with the author of the post.. thats what generally happens at your blog and Solilo’s blog.. You list down the points so clearly that i feel i have nothing to add and afraid of leaving the same comment again and again, i sometimes give a miss to commenting..
I feel this is a space where I can be I. Yes, sometimes we have to think before writing about some things, so that it will not affect anybody’s feelings.
Yes, it will be easier for the readers if the post is short and to the point. But sometimes we get carried away and write about some subject in a lengthy way. I have noticed that if I think it is long and start editing, most of the time I remove some important points and don’t get the mood to write again.
I am personally a great fan of you, IHM! I like the way you cover so many subjects and you write to the point. I am learning to do that. More than two posts a week is difficult to follow, I know.
You have got so many readers now and they are continuing to read you, because they like what you write. Why do you need to change? We like what you are now, IHM!
U shud provide more options in polls like ‘other’
I read ur blog becoz i find ur posts very interesting and thought-provoking, thus blogrolled u. I generally agree with ur views, but sometimes when i find i do not, i m happy i have the freedom to come here and counter-argue with ur views… i think thats important too…
Though I voted that I like to read Gender Issues, I also Family posts and your take on Politics and current affairs.
Why are you doing this poll ??
I havent voted..
Hi Hitchie – Help me decide how often to post and how to organise my blogroll.
I havent voted as none of the poll options are mine… but I will reply to the questions in my comment..
What do I like to read about on this blog ??
If i were to say what I like.. I like the funnier posts or the family posts or the 55 fictions anything that is fun and feel good… I am an escapist so I dont like the posts that are more serious and grave and which point to hypocriys, cynism that prevails in the society… not that you shouldnt be writing about it… but I am simply putting my point of view… an Escapist’s point of view.. !!
How often this blog should be updated ??
I once told you, you updated too much.. that didnt mean I meant it.. coming from a guy who has over 270 + posts in about a year… that is total Hypocrisy.. I surely didnt mean it.. and I dont have a view on this… post as many times as you feel you have something you must tell…
Please to consider my earlier comment null n void.. it was in jest !
How do I read your blog ??
I see the post updated in Google reader and come to your blog and read.. !
Why do I read this blog ??
I never tried to think of a reason why I read this blog… perhaps eversince you and I met virtually after 26/11 on that poem that I wrote.. I havent missed a post… I probably havent commented on a few that churn me… and a lot of posts on your blog do that…
My reason to visit your blog would be, I love the way you write, you have a clear mind, I have learnt things from you, your someone I like discussing opinions with, I love your sense of humour but above all although we have never met and may never meet… your my friend.. your a part of my life… like i said when I had gone to my BIL’s wedding… sometimes I see things and I immediately remember what would IHM’s reaction be.. that sort..
I dont need no reason to come here…
Me – Hitchwriter I expected some Sagittarius bluntness here!
??????
Geeeeeez… you still expect more ????????
dont have Sachin like expectations from me… I aint Sachin…
I was honest.. is all I can say !
Voted IHM
As for topics, I do like to read about everything that u have mentioned there bcoz it gives a peek into what ppl think and how much I am in line with public thinking
I enjoy reading – and I read pretty fast … well understand too .. so pls update as regularly as u want to, though I selected thrice a week as it would help when I am drowned in work
As for how I read, I use google reader
And I do wait for u to comment on my posts bcoz they matter to me! Ur views and comments matter to me and def. some things do become clear. Now, I am atleast happy u miss my posts due to this hopping and not bcoz u dint like them ha ha ha
Jokes apart, I use only google reader bcoz its easier to keep track of all those I read from one place
I agree ppl hv freedom to lurk around and comment if they wish to! I never never force anyone but I have met some of my bestest friends in the blog world and so do request lurkers/ encourage them to delurk so that we don’t miss another relationship which we might treasure
when many people open up and express themselves
I like the variety of topic u cover here…from family views to politics to any social cause..
I myself write short post which are too the point and like same way on other blogs..
if you have good content.u can write daily, twice a day..
BTW why do you want to change…we like the way you are today
Managing time..thats my problem too…i feel so captivated with diff posts on all blogs that missed sometime imp work.
i have been here earlier..what i like in your posts is the simplicity you keep in the selection of your themes..simple and profound
cheers
Took part in the voting. I like your posts on 55-er fiction, family posts, gender issues, but could vote for only one.
And I read your blogs, becos I like the way you write, the topics are interesting, you research so much and give facts, I relate with you on many things and most of all I would like to be a frnd of the famous IHM – hehehehhe !!!!!
this is an interesting introspective post!!
I read your and most other blogs on google reader.. i have a very long reading list and immediately add an interesting blog to read up at leisure.. the minus point is, when i am in office, or writing side by side , i find it hard to actually go on the blog and respond.. so, i guess, my comments often come up on 2-3 posts at a time and not immediately after an article is posted..
also, i feel you could tighten up each of your posts, they get a tad too long sometimes.
Hi IHM I voted.. I love reading your blog especially when you write about gender issues something I too feel strongly about.
You’re on my blogroll and thrice a week is good gives sufficient time to people to read, mull over and comment on posts.. I read because I quite like your point of view and the fact that you take pains to reply to each person who comments on your posts…
I want to tell only about the first question…
I voted the ‘other’ because repeated serious topics stated above makes me confused and hopeless.. I find myself helpless while I can do nothing in many of the situations………
Good Idea. and I believe ‘Nita’ is perfect in her views. keeping quality than from quantity…
Thanks for the polls…
I did it with deep concentration
Voted!
Me – Thank You!
hey….come on since when did people’s opinion make so much of a difference to your world??
this is YOUR blog. U ought to write what moves you or what you wish to share….what one person loves another may not connect with….so why bother so much as to put up this post???
IHM….readers are coz of the bloggers, not the other way round….blog on and care no hoots for anyone…friend, critic or plain fan.
Me – Hi Pinku, just wanted to know … and organise my time
The main thing i like about your blog is your passion and sincerity in your each post(Though i disagreed with U in some issues few times
)
me – Disagreements are a part of blogging life
IHM actually i was wodering how do you manage to reply to so many comments. comments on some of your posts run into hundreds like that of a celebrity blog.
Incidentally i have cast my votes like a good citizen (netizen?)
)
Me – Thank You for being a good netizen
That was a nice self analysis.Would like to second Sol in her view that, you post a lot too often for my likig.Mainly coz,I tend to miss some of them and I really have to come back everyday to read them.Ur blog is just awesome, just be a bit slow..
I was even deciding on taking off comments thanks to a lot of response (pun intended.. ) but not anymore, after reading ur posts (last 2 )..
Thanks..
Love,
Nikhil
((hugs))
Me – Hugs!
What you like to read about? ..well when i read blogs, i just look for what others write..what is their viewpoint etc etc…one gains knowledge etc etc…so it is not like, i like about one subject and i look for that in blogs….
How often you want to update?..may be three times a day…oh you have life apart from blogging…so it is your wish i feel…
how you read…bookmarked? following
why you read….see to query no 1..hmm
Me – Thanks for voting… I agree hearing many opinions is a very important part of blogging.
Voted.I was trying to vote for more options in the first question but it is was not allowing me to do so.
Practically is it not possible for u to visit all the blogs and read as u write very frequently and u reply to most of the comments.
I always get solutions to my problems when i read ur post.I almost come here everyday inspite of me not commenting sometimes.
Me – Saritha I just wanted to know what do most bloggers like to read … and I feel comments are really great but reading is equally good, I feel I write to be read so if you have read – I am delighted
Love everything except Gender issues
he he…
Me – I knew you would say that.
But seriously Rakesh I hope we see day when there is no need to blog about this issue
I read this blog because:
I love your thought process. I love that you think about so many issues and express them so coherently.I love that you have such a positive outlook on life.
There is a strong need for blogs such as yours, where discussions on important social issues can take place. More people need to read this blog
Honestly, even if people disagree with you, it is enough that seed of thought is planted in their heads.
And I don’t think you blog too often… just about the right amount
I agree with this too
Guess I read you since you come up with the right issues (and of course present it in a wonderful way) and make me think and at times make me change my outlook on certain issues..
and I voted once a week though I want more… but by the time I reach your blog (lack of time) the commenting would be alomost over…
Have a nice day IHM….
poll question no. 1 – Ans – not fair.. i like to read about everything you write here…
in answer to your post title… responding to each and every comment is one of the best ways to increase readership.. as everyone actually feels welcome… bloghopping can generate new readership but only responding will sustain them.
Voted IHM .. though I had to suddenly leave my place for a few days.. so I am sorry haven’t been here in past few days !!
I think a “multiple choice” format may not be enough to know why we read your blog-each person has their own reason. I started following your blog because I like the way you make it a point to write about important issues and express a balanced view of them.
I think that 5 or more a week and then I would invariably miss some of them… then I need to decide which posts to read. When they are 2-3 posts a week, I ensure I read them.
That reminds me… I need to post 2-3 posts a week!
Voted!
Love ur blog… update it whenever u like afterall it’s your kingdom of scribble!
Writer’s are what make readers and readers are what makes writers…
Err.. did I make any sense?

Execuse me… feeling cranky
… ZzzzZZzzzz
IHM for what its worth, I think you need to write whatever, however often you like to. Its your blog. Not a news site.
Maybe a box to fill in the answer to the last question would’ve been better. How on earth can one describe the myriad reasons which’re not even listed there? Like, your posts so often tickle my funny bone? Or, coming here and reading the comments reaffirms my faith in our Indian public, that not everyone has that ‘chalta hai’ attitude.Which incidentally has shades much different from “to read the comments”.
I dont mind your updating every day or every hour for that matter, if you have something interesting to say (which you always do). In fact, I love it that you update often
In the ‘why do u read my blog’ section, there should have been another section: Because I like your blogs!
I do! Have a nice day. Keep the good work going.
Me – Thank You Butterfly!!!
I forgot to add, Yes, I find it rather tiring to respond to comments. I am usually strapped for time. So in case there is a genuine query/clarification, I usually don’t respond to comments.
Voted. In my blog space everyone gets a reply however late it may get and even if its a mere emoticon. That does take time off blog-hopping. But I manage.
I remember reading India Uncut’s blog. the first thing he said before going on to enumerate other points was that these were not applicable for those blogging for themselves. I fall into the category, so those tips are not for me.
The aim of each one’s blogging is different, so the tips for blogging will be accepted accordingly too. I write because like my byline elsewhere says,
“Words, push, shove and jostle.. to be left free and dance in gay abandon”
Of course comments are always welcome and makes anyone happy, that is why it is open. But unfortunately I can never modify my writings according to what’s expected by anyone. It always comes from within and I like it to be left that way, free, always free.
Me – I love those lines Shail!!! I agree, why we blog should be considered too!!
It is important! And the post has to come from within!!!
IHM
I have voted. May I know the purpose of this poll?
Me – Saji, I just wanted to reorganise my time. I felt I wanted to do too many things and there was too little time.
I voted the day you posted and there were no comments then. So I thought I was just supposed to vote and move on.
And when I come back today, so many comments.
Interesting post, IHM. Partly in lines with what we’ve been discussing on my blog the past few days on bloggers, blogging, long posts etc.
I think bloggers should post responsibly. Frequency should be controlled. Post length should be too. I’ve actually been pretty vocal about post lengths on different blogs but mostly in a comic way just so that the person is not offended and the message is conveyed. But yes, if you have the content, then please do. Like Indy or Solilo or you. But some just ramble on and on. I know I’m being very critical but its difficult to read a long post and comment and bloghop and work as well.
As for you, stick to what you’ve been doing all this while, IHM. Don’t change anything. We love your blog the way it is.
I find your blog extremely interesting. It covers various issues with sincerity, sensitivity, seriousness, wit, intelligence. For me, a European, who admires immensely the history and culture of your country, past and present, your blog is a gate to modern India, the way to find out how you live your everyday life, what problems you face. I find that your thoughts, as well as those of many of your blog friends, mainly on gender issues, do not vary from mine,( I just wonder sometimes how easy it will be to change preconceived attitudes).
Please, continue what you are doing so well!
I reached here from the comments section of one of the posts on Bell Bajao blog, and I must say I’m intrigued by your blog. I’m going to visit the blog more often now. Keep blogging! The issues you bring out are very relevant to the present Indian scenario and would love to know what everyone else thinks about it.
Apart from Nita, Solilo, Reema and Amit, your blog has also become a must read on my radar
Me – Thanks Kiran
Voted IHM….
I like all your posts IHM… be it gender issues or relationship or anything.. you present a different and better view… but I feel that there are many posts on gender issues off late… which I felt a lil repetitive…
its just my view…
